Within Stow-on-the-Wold there is a general lack of seating for the public.

To the rear of the Church is a disused Burial Ground.  Several years ago this was partially cleared as many of the headstones had become potential hazards.  Also most had been so eroded by the elements that they had become illegible.  Many had been moved and are lying against the walls of the Church Hall or the boundary wall fronting Back Walls.

We are proposing to clear the ground and re-erect those headstones that are readable.  We will also create a memorial garden with benches, in order to provide a place where both residents of Stow and visitors can enjoy an area for quiet contemplation.

As a result of the fund-raising evening on 6 October 2018, together with other donations, we now have enough money to buy 2 (possibly 3 if we can get a good enough discount!) benches.  Winter is drawing nigh and the benches will be installed as soon as possible next year.  Thank you everyone who donated.

Full records of inscriptions will also be made available on this website.

This is a long-term plan and may well take some 3-4 years.
